High Level Spiral Case System

5-Oct 2012 - Press Release

ASTEC CONVEYORS have recently designed and installed a high level case conveyor system for the expanding company Intersnack. Previously palletising was carried out manually at the end of each production line then transferred by pallet truck through a busy operational area for approximately 50 metres to the warehouse.

The area in the packing hall was very restricted and Astec Conveyors designed a system to automatically merge different case sizes from the production lines into one single line using zero line pressure zone controlled powered roller conveyors.

The products were then raised to high level using a spiral conveyor that has a 2 metre square footprint and not impacting on the valuable packing hall area.

The spiral feeds onto a high level powered roller system to the warehouse eventually declining down a belt conveyor onto a gravity roller section for manual sortation and palletising.

As a result of the conveyor system being installed labour costs have been reduced and pallet truck operation in the packing area through to the warehouse have been drastically reduced and several safety issues eliminated.

The system was installed as a turn key project in conjunction with Elmleigh Electrical who designed the electrical control system.
